Embark on a journey of discovering life's priceless wisdom while embarking on an enchanting adventure in a treehouse.
High above the ground, nestled at 18 feet, the Serene Ravine Treehouse stands proudly. This unique space, which I had the pleasure of designing and overseeing its construction in 2022, is specially created to house multiple couples, featuring separated bedrooms for privacy. Unfortunately, up until this autumn, I hadn't had the chance to experience a night here due to its popularity. However, this fall, Madison and I, accompanied by Bella and our newest addition, Addie, a joyful six-month-old, went on a much-needed retreat to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of a cozy Treehouse.
From a personal perspective, I can only envision the profound emotions that must have filled God's heart as He created Adam and witnessed his awe and wonder while exploring the splendid world that God had crafted. It is reminiscent of a loving father holding his child's hand guiding him through life's magnificent journey. Presently, our daughters possess a heightened awareness of their surroundings, and it brings Madison's and I immense joy to observe them as they embark on their own voyage of discovery in this beautiful world.
Preparing for the Trip: Preparing for a trip with children can feel like a major move across the United States, even when the destination is only a hour or so away. Thankfully, while singing aloud multiple songs and counting from 1 to 10 multiple times, the drive from Lexington to the Serene Ravine Treehouse was a quick hour and a half. Our little ones actually behaved like angels throughout the journey! Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the breathtaking sight of vibrant crimson and yellow leaves in the Red River Gorge, their beauty magnified by the gentle touch of sunlight.
The Serene Ravine Treehouse: The Serene Ravine Treehouse is an experience in itself. Overlooking a ravine, the deck offers a cozy and comfortable space to take in the beauty of the autumnal forest. Watching my daughters, Addie and Bella, take in their new surroundings for the first time was a sight to behold. Their expressions ranged from confusion to jaw dropping excitement, an indication to the unique experience that the treehouse offers. There's nothing like getting out of a car and into a Treehouse.
Experiencing Autumn in the Treehouse: Autumn brings a certain personality to the forest, and there's no better way to experience this than from the comfort of a treehouse. Our mornings were spent by a cozy fire, enjoying warm oatmeal and coffee, followed by a three hour hike through the forest. The sunlight filtering through the leaves added a touch of magic to our adventure. After the hike, the girls took a well-deserved nap, while Madison and I enjoyed coffee on the back deck. The day ended with a delicious BBQ meal and a visit to a nearby trailhead with a rope bridge, which Bella thoroughly enjoyed, especially in her new rain boots which she loved SO much that she went to bed in these boots just a couple of nights ago.
Conclusion: Life, much like taking the scenic route, often leads us down unexpected paths. However, it is these unplanned moments that often give birth to the most cherished memories. In the midst of the overwhelming hustle and bustle of the world, we all need moments of disconnection where we can embark on an adventure and create lasting memories with our loved ones. This trip served as a testament to that truth. It provided us with an opportunity to strengthen our family bond, reconnect in our marriage, revel in the presence of God through His awe-inspiring creations, and appreciate the beauty in the stage of life Madison and I are in.
